A new breakthrough has been achieved in the Cannabis edibles field by the launching of ingestible straws with internal lining infused with tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly known as THC. The lining dissolves as the beverage is consumed, giving the user a special kind of intoxication.

Ever since some of the states started removing the restrictions on the use of cannabis for medicinal as well as recreational purposes, cannabis manufacturers are trying to find innovative ways to take their edible products to wider sections of the populace by redefining the parameters of cannabis enjoyment.

The beverage sector of cannabis products has not been growing very fast, and this new product offered by DRNQ Budz is expected to accelerate its growth by providing a new method to enjoy cannabis.

The new drinking straw can be used for taking water, smoothies, alcoholic drinks, or cold coffee, and the technology behind it would allow the users to have a regulated dose of THC with any of these.

In other words, anyone can now make a cocktail of THC with any type of drink, without having to worry about the rules of edible infusion. Normally, for mixing with alcohol, cannabis has to be decarboxylated (a chemical reaction that removes a carbon atom) first. It is not an easy process for ordinary users while using the straw is something everyone can do.

The lining of the edibles straw dissolves as the drink is consumed, and through the outer layer of the straw, the user can clearly see the amount of THC that is taken in. The onset of THC will be very fast and will happen within a clearly predictable time, which is generally 6 minutes.

The straw’s popularity is believed to be based mainly on the fast way in which cannabis shows its effect. The straws are biodegradable and come in different natural flavors like mango, lemon, matcha, and berry.

As of now, they are available in doses of 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg, with each straw containing 5 to 10 mg of THC. However, more flavors and strengths are expected to be available soon.

Joe Wallace, the founder of DRNQ Budz, said that cannabis gummies were not so fast in acting and that their timing was not easily predictable. According to him, people often had to wait for half an hour to get high after consuming gummies. And when they lost patience, they consumed one more and ended up becoming higher than they had wanted to be. The straw’s controlled dose frees the user from such problems.

This unique straw technology was developed by Unistraw, the leading straw-maker in the world but the Los Angeles-based DRNQ Budz managed to get the rights to use the technology and has used it in the production of THC-lined straws.

Some states have already banned plastic straws as plastic has become a great bio-hazard and is threatening the world’s ecosystem. Food chains like Starbucks are also phasing out plastic straws. In this context, the demand is very much for bio-sourced straws and what DRNQ Budz produces is edible straws made of corn. The move is bound to significantly reduce the carbon footprint in the cannabis industry.

The arrival of this new biodegradable, THC-infused drinking straw is expected to revolutionize the cannabis edibles industry, the global market of which is expected to reach $12 billion by the year 2025.
